The Food Expert:
The winery was founded in 1948 in Trecase, on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius (70 min from Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast and from Caserta). We have been using organic methods since 1996, fertilizing this sandy, volcanic soil exclusively with organic products and treating the vines only with copper sulphate and sulphur. Our wines do not contain sulphites. Our grape varieties, the Caprettone, the Piedirosso and the Aglianico, are among the oldest grapes cultivated in the history, even before the Ancient Romans (5th century BC).
Cancellation policy: all bookings for the Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio wine tour can be cancelled within 3 days from the start date of the experience. Read the Terms and Conditions.
It was 1948, Italy was recovering from the Second World War and my father decided to found a small winery in Trecase, on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius.
At that time, wine was transported to Naples by horse-drawn wagons, where small rural producers sold their wines to larger merchants, who then supplied shops and restaurants around the city.
I began working at a young age in the family business.
Eighteen years ago the turning point: I decided to open the doors of my winery to tourists for visits and tastings, to invest in improving the quality of my wines and to limit distribution only to our winery shop or through the website.

Lacryma Christi doc: history and legend
The name Lacryma Christi has its roots in a number of legends. The most famous is that of Lucifer, who took with him a piece of heaven when he was cast out. When Christ saw the Gulf of Naples in Italy, he recognized it as this stolen piece and wept over the loss; it is said that vines of Lacryma Christi sprang miraculously from the earth where his tears fell.
