Day 1: Welcome to Sannio
Arrival in the afternoon and accommodation at the Hotel Ristorante ***S, near the spa town of Telese Terme. We immediately set off to discover the area!
Once you have chosen your E-Bike, you will immerse yourself in the wonderful Grassano Park, explore the park of the Terme di Telese, a vast verdant oasis, as well as the ancient Jacobelli thermal baths, inaugurated in the second half of the 19th century. Picturesque views and sunsets await you at the Lake Telese.
On your return to the hotel, a delicious 3-course dinner awaits you. The places can also be reached by your own means and not exclusively by e-bike.
Visited: Telese Terme
Included: ½ day e-Bike, dinner, accommodation and breakfast
Day 2: Discover Sant'Agata de' Goti
After breakfast, devote the morning to an independent visit of Sant’Agata de’ Goti, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
Next, an all-female family-run winery with a five-century-long tradition awaits you. Here, in 1979, the world’s first Falanghina was bottled. After a guided tour of the historic wine cellars, you will taste the winery’s wines paired with local foods.
The afternoon will be free. You will then continue your visit of the area on your own. We recommend you visit the Carolingian aqueduct, that still brings water to the Royal Palace of Caserta, and the San Leucio Silk Factory. Dinner at the hotel.
Visited: Sant’Agata De’ Goti
Included: Admission and guided tour of the winery with wine tasting, dinner, accommodation and breakfast
Day 3: Land of knowledge & flavours
Sannio is not a single town, but many small villages nestled in nature, such as San Lorenzello, where expert craftsmen meticulously care for their ceramics, and Cerreto Sannita, called the city of churches where the bishopric is located.
Further on we find Cusano Mutri, a real jewel of Italian medieval art. While for the more adventurous there are the Caccaviola Gorges. Then don’t miss Pietraroja to discover the dinosaur Ciro. It was the first dinosaur to be found in Italy, one of the smallest dinosaurs in the world.
At the prosciutteria in Pietraroja, with a guided tour you can discover the processing of the local ham, the ancient techniques of processing and curing by visiting the adjoining museum and, last but not least, taking part in a tasty lunch-tasting in the prosciutteria with a traditional wood-fired open kitchen. Dinner on your own.
Visited: Pietraroja
Included: Admission and guided tour of the prosciutteria, lunch-tasting, accommodation and breakfast
Day 4: A journey through history
After breakfast it is time to set off for Benevento, where you will meet the tour guide who will accompany you through this marvellous city, an open-air museum thanks to its thousand-year-old history. But there is an aura of mystery shrouding the city and it is that linked to the witches, or rather the Janare, and their rituals.
The afternoon will be free and you can choose to continue to Pietrelcina, the birthplace of Saint Pio. Alternatively, you can visit the Zoo delle Maitine. Another option is San Marco de’ Cavoti, a “sweet” village famous for its Croccantino.
