Tourist Guide: What to See in Arezzo During Your Trip

Antiques Market

For antiques enthusiasts, Arezzo hosts one of the oldest and most important markets in Italy. The Antiques Market is held every first Sunday of the month, in the narrow streets and squares of the historic centre, with over five hundred exhibitors from all over Italy. It is an opportunity to discover objects from various eras and of different workmanship: furniture, antique books, coins, jewellery and much more.

Petrarch Theatre

Arezzo also offers interesting proposals for theatre lovers. The Teatro Petrarca, inaugurated in 1833, hosts a rich season of prose, dance and music performances. Characterised by a neoclassical structure and interiors decorated in Art Nouveau style, it is one of the most beautiful historical theatres in Tuscany.

The Park of the Medici Fortress

Surrounding the Fortezza Medicea is a beautiful park, ideal for a stroll or a relaxing moment in the shade of the trees. Concerts, shows and cultural events are organised here during the summer months. From the park, you can also enjoy an incomparable panoramic view of the city and the Tuscan fields.

Antiques Fair

Another unmissable event for art and antiques enthusiasts is the Arezzo Antiques Fair, one of the oldest and most prestigious in Italy. It is held every last weekend of the month and hosts hundreds of exhibitors with an incredible variety of objects: furniture, jewellery, books, paintings, prints, ceramics and much more.

The Lawn and the Roman Baths

In the historical centre is the Prato, a vast green area that offers a privileged viewpoint over the city. Here you can visit the Roman Baths, an archaeological complex that testifies to the presence of the Romans in this area. Open-air performances are often held here during the summer.

Tuscan Cuisine and Wines of Arezzo

As far as food and wine are concerned, in addition to the typical dishes already mentioned, Arezzo offers a local wine of great quality, Vinsanto, excellent with desserts. Tuscan extra virgin olive oil and local cheeses, such as Pecorino Toscano DOP, are also worth trying. In many restaurants and osterias it is possible to taste the authentic flavours of Tuscan cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Appreciating Arezzo in all its beauty requires time and attention to detail. The charm of this city also lies in its picturesque alleys, its artisan workshops, its trattorias where you can savour traditional dishes, and its historical events, including the famous Giostra del Saracino. So, prepare your trip and let yourself be surprised by Arezzo, the perfect destination for a holiday of art, culture and good food.
