We produce Tuscan olive oil PGI – EU Protected Geographical Indication – in an area that has always been devoted to the production of high-quality extra virgin olive oil. We are a three-generation family farm, combining tradition and innovation.
The headquarters of our farm are in an ancient villa, which has been inhabited since the Middle Ages. One of our ancestors, official and minister of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, chose it as his country residence from the second half of the 18th century.
Imagine living in the Tuscany of a few centuries ago, in a villa of an elegance and splendour of past times! This is what visitors feel while entering our residence, surrounded by an enchanting Italian garden, a perfect place to enjoy moments of peace and relaxation. This place represents the true essence of Tuscany, combining elegant furniture with the green and lush of the outside.
Our family lives on the ground floor of the villa, while we have dedicated the noble floor to a luxury farmhouse consisting of two flats, both of almost 100 square metres, where you can enjoy a splendid view of the hills and the olive groves that are typical of this area south of Florence.
Review
The farm owner was an excellent host. We came on a very hot day in August and she was so gracious and knowledgeable about the production of olive oil. She also gave us excellent recommendations for lunch in Certaldo after our morning session. All in all, an excellent day trip from Florence – highly recommend!
When you go here you get a really warm welcome by the owner of the farm. Her family has run this farm for ages and she knows everything about it and is really keen to learn you more about evrything.
The olive oil is really nice and we heve learned a lot lot.
All in all the price quality is really good and we would really reccomend to go here.
Logistics: Without a car we got a train to Certaldo, and the farm owner organised a return taxi for 50 euro (otherwise a 2 hour walk).
Come here simply to meet the gorgeous, dignified, and passionate farm owner.
Her family has run the home for hundreds of years (there is a circa 1443 foundation stone on one of walls). Originally a hilltop fort, it was added to, and there is a staggering 42 rooms in the three storey edifice.
Filled with antique furniture, and fine paintings, the interior is a wonder, the highlight being a lovely chapel, hidden behind a secret door.
She gave us a 4 hour olive oil tour for the measly sum of 5 euro per hour. She does it, not for the money, but to impart her family’s generational passion of producing the finest extra virgin oil. She fashions the tour according to your wants.
We learnt about when the olives are harvested, how they grow on the trees, and how the different varieties of olives are blended on the farm, to give the unique flavour and aroma.
We learnt about cooking with the liquid gold, milling, cold pressing, and storage in the villa’s cellar.
We tasted both the oil, and olives themselves, and discovered the keys to reading the labels on the bottles.
With the EU’s help the traditional way of making boutique Tuscany olive oil is being preserved. See this process with your outstanding host.
We had a wonderful experience and are very thankful for the nice and private (Only for two people) tour through the house as well as the gardens and olive plantage. The owner answered all our questions gently about the oil production, her family history and about the tuscan region. In our opinion she was well educated not only about oil production, but as well as in tuscan/ italian history. We enjoyed the tour in perfect german (really impressive) and would like to recommend everyone this experience!
The farm owner was phenomenal and made the experience amazing! She has a passion for her craft and it is obvious that she cares deeply about the quality of oil that she produces. She took us all around her villa and showed not only the beautiful history of the place but also explained the full process of the production of her olive oil. We had a few tastings together and enjoyed trying different flavors from different harvest times, as well as some fresh bruschetta covered in her amazing oil. We covered a lot but never felt rushed.
We walked there from Certaldo and it was long and hot but very beautiful through the Tuscan countryside. She helped us arrange a taxi for the return trip which was much appreciated.
