Day 1: Sestri Levante
Arrival in the early afternoon in Sestri Levante and visit on your own of the village, known for the beauty of its two bays, “Baia della Favole” and “Baia del Silenzio”, and for its characteristic old town with its typical Caruggi (narrow alleys), full of historical shops.
We suggest a nice walk to reach the Punta Manara Promontory, from where you can enjoy a splendid view of the town. At the end you will reach the hotel, dinner on your own and overnight.

Day 2: Cinque Terre National Park
Breakfast at the hotel, meeting with the tour guide and transfer by train to Riomaggiore, the first village of the Park where our visit begins.
The Cinque Terre National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, consists of five villages: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso. The most famous path is the “Sentiero Azzurro”, which allows us to reach all the other villages. You will discover that in Liguria coast means enchanting seaside villages!
In addition to the richness of churches and sanctuaries, the particularity of this area is given by the landscapes built by man, with terracing overlooking the sea, where we can find vineyards that produce excellent PDO wines (Protected Designation of Origin), such as Sciacchetrà, and immense olive groves.
Lunch on your own. In the afternoon, we will have a delicious wine tasting with local foods. At the end we will return by train to Sestri Levante and from here to the hotel. Dinner on your own and overnight.

Day 3: Portovenere and Palmaria Island
Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer on your own to La Spezia where we will take the boat to Portovenere (approx. 30 minutes of sailing).
The morning will be dedicated to a guided tour of this beautiful village with its little harbor and the small Church of San Pietro, built on the extreme end of the village from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the sea. You will also visit the 12th century Castle, the sanctuary of the Madonna Bianca and the Byron’s Cave, where the English poet used to go to get inspiration for his poems.
A short stop for lunch (on your own) and in the afternoon a boat trip to admire three gems of the Ligurian coast: Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto Islands. Palmaria Island is full of Mediterranean scrub and steep cliffs; Tinetto is completely bare of vegetation; on Tino, now a military area, we can find vestiges dating back to the eleventh century. At the end of the visit we will return by boat to La Spezia and from here to the hotel. Dinner on your own and overnight.

Day 4: Portofino Park
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer on you own to Ruta di Camogli where we will start a guided trekking excursion that will allow us to reach San Fruttuoso.
An itinerary surrounded by Mediterranean scrub, with incredible views on the Ligurian coast, that in less than 3 hours will take us to the ancient fishing village of San Fruttuoso. Lunch on your own and then guided tour of the village, famous for its Abbey dating back to the year 1000, recently restored by FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano). Admission with fee.
At the end, boat trip to Portofino with a visit on your own of the famous town of Tigullio. We will return to Santa Maria Ligure by boat and from here to the hotel. Dinner on your own and overnight.

Day 5: Genoa
Breakfast at the hotel and luggage storage. Transfer on your own to Genoa.
Guided tour of the old town with the square Piazza De Ferrari, the palace Palazzo Ducale, the House of Christopher Columbus, the cathedral of San Lorenzo, the gate Porta Soprana, the square Piazza Banchi, once the market place, the museum “Musei di Strada Nuova” and the palace Palazzo San Giorgio.
Crossing the many Caruggi (narrow alleys) of the old town, we will reach the Porto Antico area (Old Harbour), the most tourist destination of the city, where we will find the famous Aquarium of Genoa, the architectural structure called Bigo and the sea museum “Galata – Museo del mare” (admission fees to be paid on site). Lunch on your own. In the afternoon we suggest:
– Visit of the famous Aquarium of Genoa, located in the Porto Antico area, one of the largest aquariums in the world, with dolphins, sharks, seals, sea cows, turtles, reptiles and many other species;
– attend a pesto demonstration with a taste of the famous Genoese focaccia served with a glass of the typical Ligurian white wine Vermentino (with supplement);
– take a walking tour of the historical Genoese shops (with supplement).
In the evening transfer to Sanremo and accommodation in the rooms. Dinner on your own and overnight.

Day 6: The caves of Toirano & Finalborgo
Breakfast at the hotel and in the morning transfer on you own to Toirano.
The tour on the Ligurian coast will continue with a guided visit to the Toirano Caves, a complex of karstic caves known for the variety of stalactite and stalagmite forms, and for the discovery of traces of Homo Sapiens from over 12,000 years ago, together with remains of “Ursus Spelaeus” from about 25,000 years ago.
Lunch on your own and in the afternoon you will move to Finalborgo for a wonderful visit (on your own) of the famous village, enclosed by medieval walls and still well preserved, where you can find artisan shops, art galleries and large medieval courts. The main attractions are the former convent of Santa Caterina, now home of the museum Museo Civico di Finale, the Superga church, the gates of the village: Porta Testa, Porta Romana and Porta Reale, and the Cathedral of San Biagio, a sumptuous example of Baroque architecture. We suggest tasting an ice cream in the small square while admiring the medieval buildings. At the end return to the hotel, dinner on your own and overnight.

Day 7: Dolceacqua, Apricale & Villa Hanbury
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer on you own to Val Nervia.
In this valley of the Ligurian coast, you can find the most beautiful villages of Ponente Ligure such as the picturesque Dolceacqua, with the Doria Castle, the many alleys and stone houses with the famous bridge, and the medieval village Apricale which holds one of the most fascinating squares in Italy, with the parish church, the oratory, and a series of buildings all different from each other, enriched by murals, sculptures and paintings by many artists who have left their works in this place, even in recent times.
The most curious work is certainly the bicycle on the roof of the bell tower, clearly visible from afar. The route will be guided by an expert tour guide.
Lunch on your own and in the early afternoon transfer to Ventimiglia for a visit (without tour guide) to the Villa Hanbury Gardens, a botanical park unique in the world where exotic plants of the most diverse species live together. In the evening return to the hotel, dinner on your own and overnight.

Day 8: Departure
Breakfast at the hotel with luggage storage. Last day dedicated to a visit (on your own) of the capital of the Riviera dei Fiori with its old part with a typical medieval look called “Pigna” and its perched houses, small squares and steep streets, and the modern Sanremo with its elegant palaces and its parks that extend towards the sea. Lunch on your own and departure.
