The Food Expert:
Driven by the enthusiasm of an elderly producer, the pioneer of pistachio in Basilicata, in 2005 I decided to bet on pistachio cultivation. So I left with my father for Greece, where we bought the first 1,200 trees. To these first trees of the Aeginis variety, one of the best pistachios in the world, we have added over the years two famous varieties: the Kerman and the Neapolitan variety, which is the same grown in Bronte.
Our farm boasts about being one of the very few, if not the only Italian farm, to grow organic pistachio. If the famous pistachio of Stigliano fascinates you, don’t miss the opportunity to visit our pistachio farm in Basilicata!
Cancellation policy: all bookings for the Italian pistachio experience can be cancelled within 3 days from the start date of the experience. Read the Terms and Conditions.

To these first trees of the Aeginis variety, one of the best pistachios in the world, we have added over the years two famous varieties: the Kerman and the Neapolitan variety, which is the same grown in Bronte. Currently we take care of about 4,000 trees on an area of almost 16 hectares and the farm boasts about being one of the very few, if not the only Italian farm, to grow organic pistachio.
Today our farm grows precious pistachio in a plantation among the hills of Basilicata, in San Mauro Forte in the province of Matera: a village rich in history with 32 baronial palaces, medieval churches, the Norman tower with a multimedia museum and a museum of rural life.
In the area you can visit Matera, famous for its “Sassi” – stone houses carved out of caves and cliffs –, Craco, the ghost town where Mel Gibson shot the film “The Passion” and the small Lucanian Dolomites, where you can admire two of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Pietrapetrosa and Castelmezzano.
