Day 1: Castles of the Aosta Valley

Fenis is certainly the most famous castle of the Aosta Valley and, for many, it is the most beautiful one; few people are aware that also the village is a pearl to be explored wandering through its alleys.

A few minute drive from the castle, you will find a small distillery where you can see the distillation process and taste the liqueurs got from the alpine herbs and paired with Saint Marcel ham, produced in the annex laboratory. Accommodation in a B&B near Aosta with the charming atmosphere of the smallest region in Italy.

Visited: Fenis and Aosta
Included: Guided tour of Fenis Castle, visit to the distillery and tasting of liqueurs and typical products, accommodation at B&B

Day 2: Stunning views

Riding on the rotating cable cars up to the Monte Bianco you will feel breathless during your food tour in the Aosta Valley, not only because of the heights, as you will reach the altitude of 3466 mt., but also because the views are absolutely stunning. The amazing tops of the most famous mountains will appear in front of your eyes: the Mont Blanc, the Pink Mountain, the Matterhorn and the Grand Combin.

Once back “on earth”, go exploring the small towns of Courmayeur and Saint Pierre where you will visit the Royal Castle of Sarre strictly linked to the Kings of Italy.

Visited: Mont Blanc, Courmayeur, Saint Pierre
Included: Sarre Castle guided tour, accommodation and breakfast

Day 3: Aosta, a pleasant surprise!

Aosta is a town which will pleasantly surprise you. It can be visited in one day or even less, but I recommend that you spend a full day to make time to discover its cozy cafés offering Valpellinentze and tegole, carbonada and civet. Are you wondering what they are? You only need to sit at a table to find out! Aosta is also, and especially, a town rich in art treasures, witnessing its ancient history going back to the Roman period when it was called “Augusta Praetoria”.

If you have time to spare during your gastronomic tour in the Aosta Valley, you can reach the nearby village of Valpelline to buy the Fontina cheese in the place where the producers keep it to season and to get its unique sweet taste.

Visited: Aosta and Valpelline
Included: Accommodation and breakfast

Day 4: Good food & beautiful places

If you have been enchanted by your discoveries so far, you will not be disappointed by your last day in the Aosta Valley starting with a visit to a laboratory and followed by a delicious taste of traditional cheeses and cold cuts, among which the Arnad Lard PDO.

Before leaving the smallest region in Italy, it is unmissable a stop at the Fort Bard, located in a strategic and spectacular position. From the Children’s Alp Museum to the prisons, adults and children alike will be thrilled by the visit.

Visisted: Aosta and Fort Bard
Included: Breakfast, traditional cheese and salami tasting
