What to expect

You are welcome to enjoy an amazing experience at the winery that will lead you to rediscover the history of this wine region and its deep connection with Aglianico del Vulture wine.

We will tell you the story of our family, which has owned the winery since the end of the 19th century. You will learn the stages of the Aglianico winemaking process, the ageing of our wine, bottling and labelling.

We will continue the wine experience outdoors or in the indoor tasting room, a cellar dug in natural tufa caves where there is an old “palmento” with a cross in relief. It is a wide and shallow tank, with walls carved into the impermeable rock, that was traditionally used to crush the grapes and for the fermentation of must in Southern Italy.

In this setting rich in history, you will taste 1 glass of our Aglianico del Vulture and a board (per person) with typical Lucanian foods:

  • Caciocavallo podolico cheese, with durum wheat bread and grape mustard
  • Durum wheat “Senatore Cappelli” tarallini with typical Lucanian salami
  • Farm olives and focaccia
  • Home-made biscuits

The Food Expert:

The history of our winery dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, when the founder decided to buy a “masseria”, a farm house with several hectares of land near Rapolla, a town that is located in the province of Potenza on the slopes of Mount Vulture, an ancient extinct volcano.

A territory rich in nature, but also in history: in 1856, the famous “Sarcophagus of Rapolla” was found in the land that is currently owned by our family and it is now displayed in the National Museum inside the Castle of Melfi. During our wine experiences, you can take part in fascinating wine cellar tours to taste Aglianico wine in one of the most award-winning wineries in Vulture.

Cancellation policy: all bookings for the Aglianico del Vulture wine tasting can be cancelled within 3 days from the start date of the experience. Read the Terms and Conditions.

Over the years, the land has always been used for cereal farming: wheat, oats and barley. In 2012 our family made an important decision: to enhance the characteristics of the Aglianico del Vulture grape variety.

Understanding its value and great potential, we purchased a thirty-year-old vineyard and a wine cellar dug in natural tufa caves, where we take care of the whole winemaking process from harvesting to the ageing of wine in order to produce high-quality Aglianico del Vulture DOC and to represent our extraordinary territory at its best.
