The Food Expert:

The link with Aglianico del Vulture wine and my family roots go back to an episode of childhood when, at the age of about seven, I started to look around my grandfather’s vineyard. I found him bowed near a vine. He turned, saw me, and suddenly asked me what my name was. I replied and he promised to bequeath his vineyards to me, because I was the only nephew to carry his name.

In 1998, at the age of forty, I decided to leave my previous job as a manager to take up the challenge of enhancing Aglianico del Vulture wine. I understand today that the true legacy passed on to me by my grandfather is, beyond the vineyards, his heritage of values, the love for things done well, the desire to do more than to have. The real challenge is thus to elevate Aglianico del Vulture by combining tradition, innovation, history and local culture.

The cultivation methods used in the winery are inspired by the utmost respect for nature and are suitable to improve the accumulation of water reserve, as well as the content of organic substance. So in the first place there is the respect for plant life, for the environment and for the natural and intrinsic vitality of the soil.

The headquarters of our winery are located in Rionero in Vulture, in an ancient renovated palace with ancient natural caves dating back to the 1600s and already used by Franciscan Monks. Today they house the barrels where our wine rests and allow visitors to make a fascinating and unforgettable journey through history.

Aglianico del Vulture

Aglianico del Vulture is the red wine obtained from the vinification of Aglianico grapes. This grape is grown on the slopes of an ancient volcano, the Vulture. Thanks to the volcanic soils, the presence in depth of tuffaceous layers that work as a water reserve during dry periods and the extremely particular microclimate, Aglianico del Vulture matures to perfection allowing us to make a strong wine with a strong personality, a ruby colour and complex aromas.
