Mamoiada: at the discovery of Cannonau!

This experience begins in the wine cellar and continues in the vineyard.

With the winemakers, we will start with a presentation of our winery and family in the wine cellar located in the historic centre of Mamoiada: a path through our winemaking room and barrel room, a prelude to the magic that you will experience in the second part of the route.

In fact, after our stop in Mamoiada, we will move to the vineyard: there, you will take a walk among our old stumps and you will enjoy a breathtaking view. It dominates the south-western slope of the Mamoiada area and enjoys a constant breeze that, in summer, comes directly from the sea.

In the end, among our almost age-old vines, we will toast with a glass of our wine and samples of local specialities.

The Expert Tonino: I have always been making wine. I inherited this passion from my father Raffaele, who has taught me the best techniques to grow Cannonau since I was a child. Cannonau is the most important vine of my home village: Mamoiada, in the heart of Barbagia.

Our land is known in Italy as a naturally suited environment for the growing of this vine. It is, in fact, at an average height of 650 metres above sea level, with a sandy, slightly acidic soil, so as to allow the easy passage of water avoiding stagnation.

Passion is often contagious: in 2015 my son Marco, who inherited my love for wine, decides to enrol at the Faculty of oenology, involving the whole family in this project.

Our vineyards are aged between 60 and 80 years, our work in the vineyard and in the wine cellar is mainly manual from pruning to ploughing, which is sometimes facilitated by the passage of oxen, to harvesting.

We produce three wines: a white wine from Granatza grapes, a rosé and a red wine from Cannonau grapes, all certified organic.
